It turns out that ‘beiger’ isn’t a word
Perhaps it should be, given how much time is spent trying to make things more and more beige.
Bland is not a helpful goal.
The goal could be to become useful, remarkable and worth seeking out. To do something that’s hard to replace, groundbreaking or thrilling. Generous work that makes things better.
Beiger doesn’t help.
from Seth Godin’s Blog.
it’s like getting stuck in the middle, trying to make everyone happy or appeal to everyone — the only result is failure. think edge, think differentiation, think spice.

Bitcoin Leads the Crypto Market
According to CoinMarketCap, all bitcoins in the world were worth around 202 billion U.S. dollars as of October 9, 2020 – more than five times as much as those of the next biggest crypto currency, Ethereum.
But Bitcoin used to be worth even more: At the end of 2017, the crypto currency briefly reached a market capitalisation of over $300 billion. That year, Bitcoin started to appeal to mainstream investors and while the ensuing frenzy for the digital currency catapulted its value to new heights, it also led to an inevitable crash in 2018 and a market value that sunk as low as 56 billion momentarily.

Lush Cosmetics: Mark Constantine - How I Built This with Guy Raz
Working at a high-end beauty salon in the south of England in the early 1970’s, Mark Constantine concocted natural shampoos and conditioners in a tiny room above his kitchen, and soon met another young entrepreneur who was eager to buy his products: Anita Roddick of The Body Shop. Their partnership flourished for a while, then soured; so Mark went on to start a mail-order cosmetics business with his wife and several others. After that business went bust and Mark was nearly broke, he decided to take one more leap to launch Lush, a cosmetics shop whose distinctive soaps and bath bombs developed a passionate following. Today, Lush has about 900 stores around the world and is adapting to pressures of a pandemic economy.
a fantastic episode; a lot to learn from.
