For the first time in more than half a decade, Facebook wants to inform you that it owns Instagram and WhatsApp by adding its own brand name alongside the two — in the following format: ‘Instagram from Facebook’; 'WhatsApp from Facebook’ [TechCrunch].
Facebook is still working on a brain-computer interface (BCI), detailed in a Facebook-funded UCSF research paper published in Nature today entitled, “Real-time decoding of question-and-answer speech dialogue using human cortical activity.”
Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, the biggest streamer ever, has announced his intention to leave the Twitch in favour of Microsoft’s Mixer. Twitch is by far the biggest video game streaming platform on the internet, claiming 72% of all hours watched, according to StreamElements. Mixer, by comparison, owns 3%, which is approximately 112 million viewership hours this most recent quarter [TechCrunch].

Netflix reigns supreme when it comes to OTT services in the US, reaching three-quarters of American households as well as being considered the most indispensable TV network by many viewers. However, what would happen if Netflix went from being an ad-free service to having an ad-supported tier? New research from TDG has found that more than one-quarter (27% share) of subscribers would definitely not switch to a less expensive, ad-supported tier of Netflix if given the option, and that about half would be unlikely to.

News Consumption in the UK (2019)
Key findings:
While TV remains the most-used platform for news nowadays by UK adults, usage has decreased since last year (75% vs. 79% in 2018). At the same time, use of social media for news use has gone up (49% vs. 44%).
Use of TV for news is much more likely among the 65+ age group (94%), while the internet is the most-used platform for news consumption among 16-24s and those from a minority ethnic background.
Fewer UK adults use BBC TV channels for news compared to last year, while more are using social media platforms.
When rated by their users on measures such as quality, accuracy, trustworthiness and impartiality, magazines continue to perform better than other news platforms, followed by TV.

Top Countries Worldwide for Q2 2019 by App Downloads
The country with the largest number of new app installs in Q2 2019 was India with approximately 5.4 billion first-time downloads, reaching a new milestone in the quarter, up 13 percent from 4.8 billion in Q1 2019.
The second-ranked country in terms of worldwide app downloads in Q2 2019 was the United States with three billion new installs. The next highest performing country was Brazil, followed by Indonesia and Russia.
